The minority leader in Parliament says the ambition of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to win the 2016 elections does not need a total overhaul of the current executives.
The NPP MP for Suhum, Opare Ansah and former flagbearer aspirant of the NPP, Prof. Frimpong Boateng have both urged delegates to vote out all the current executives for leading the party into two election defeats.
But according to Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, the NPP needs a new strategy to win the next election following failures in the 2008 and 2012.
He served notice that the NPP “cannot countenance another loss, another defeat so there is a bigger burden on whichever group gets elected today to work extra hard.”
Mr Mensah Bonsu was of the opinion that if the party does not change its strategy towards national elections, “we shall reap the same harvest. We must change tactics and strategies.”
Meanwhile, the deputy minority leader in Parliament, Dominic Nitiwul has cautioned party delegates to elect capable leaders considering the tactics of the NDC during elections.
He noted that the 2016 election will have different dynamics as compare to previous elections because the party is going to “face an opponent who is very brutal, we are going to face an opponent who does not respect the rules of the game, we are going to face an opponent who will destroy the economy of Ghana just because they want to win an election.”
Mr. Nitiwul added that delegates must elect executives who will match their opponents “boot for boot with intellect, with skill, with planning and with everything.”
