A 34 year-old palm wine tapper, Ibrahim Tetteh, has been sentenced to six months imprisonment with hard labour for indecently assaulting a 30-year-old drinking spot operator.
He pleaded guilty.
Prosecuting, Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah, told the court, presided over by Mr. Justice Michael Cudjoe, that the complainant operated a drinking spot at Dompim, and lived in the same neigbourhood with Tetteh, who was her customer.
[contextly_sidebar id=”lUOvw7bpJZO8gxCpkouyyJSNTOCIX2pO”]According to Inspector Amponsah, about six months ago, Tetteh purchased, on credit, GHC 5 worth of local gin from the woman and promised to pay within the shortest possible time, but he failed to do so.
He said two months later, she requested the money from Tetteh who told her that the only money he had was GHC 50 notes, so she should follow him to his house for the GHC 5.
When they got to his house, Tetteh invited the complainant into his room and locked the door.
He pulled her into his bed room and attempted to rape her, but she struggled with him.
The convict then demanded a kiss from the complainant before allowing her to leave his room.
The complainant who needed her freedom complied before she was freed.
She later made a report to the Police and the accused was arrested and was charged for attempted rape.
