United States President Barack Obama will visit the headquarters of the African Union (AU), the continental bloc has said.
According to the AU Obama will visit the union’s headquaters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in July.
They made the announcement on their official twitter page on Sunday.
There has been no word of the visit from the US so far but when it happens it will be the first by a sitting US president to the African Union.
Obama, of Kenyan descent has forged strong ties with countries on the African continent since he was first elected as president.
During his tenure as president he has paid visits to several African countries including.Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania and Ghana in 2009.
