The newly elected parliamentary candidate of the Madina constituency on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party, Boniface Abubakr Saddique, has assured the presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and supporters of his determination to win the Madina seat for the NPP in the 2016 election.

According to him, though the Madina constituency has never been won by the NPP since the restoration of multi-party democracy in 1992, he is of the firm belief that with the current level of unity  among members, delegates and executives, coupled with his strong message will get the electorate in the constituency will vote for him.

“I made this pledge to the delegates prior to the primaries and I want to reaffirm it again. Madina will be counted in 2016 as one of the seats belonging to the NPP. We will win Madina, Insha Allah. I want to assure Nana Akufo-Addo, Ghana’s President-in-waiting, that his vote share in Madina will increase. Akufo-Addo will win in Madina, Boniface will also win in Madina,” he said to loud applause from the gathering.

Boniface Saddique was accompanied to the Nima residence of the NPP flagbearer by all the five aspirants who contested last saturday’s primary.

All five aspirants, who took turns to address the gathering, pledged their support for the candidature of Boniface Saddique and reassured him, in the presence of Nana Akufo-Addo, of their unflinching support, whilst at the same time working to ensure that the NPP flagbearer wins the mandate of Ghanaians in 2016.

Nana Akufo-Addo thanked them for their visit and their pledges of support ahead of the 2016 election.

“On my part, I can also say that I have full confidence in Boniface, the man you have elected as your parliamentary candidate. He is an experienced politician. I am sure that, together, we will work hard for victory in 2016. I have known him for many years, as we worked together under President Kufuor,” Akufo-Addo said.

To the delegates and party executives present, Nana Akufo-Addo had a word of advice for them.

“Our internal contests are almost over. We have a few more constituencies which are yet to conduct their parliamentary primaries. Let us all remember that this talk of this person is a ‘Nana man’, that person is an ‘Alan man’ is no longer relevant. We are all members of the NPP, and I am going to work with all members of the party. Boniface was part of Alan’s team and did not support me; today he is the parliamentary candidate for Madina. We are going to work together. We have to deliver Ghana from the failing government of Mahama’s NDC and bring back progress and prosperity to our country. We can only do that if we are all working together in sincerity,” he concluded.
