Abudu Youth in Dagbon in the Northern Region have commended President John Dramani Mahama for taking immediate steps to perform the final funeral rites of the late two overlords of Dagbon.

As part of government’s agenda to perform the final funeral rites of the late Yaa-Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV and the late Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani II, construction of adjourning houses to the old Gbewaa palace in Yendi is underway.

The Abudu Youth Association is convinced that the latest development if materialized could bring genuine reconciliation and peace in Dagbon.

Secretary to the Abudu Youth Association, Salifu Abdul-Razak called on all Dagombas to support President Mahama’s worthy course.

“We are of the firmest belief that the performance of the funeral rites of our great kings is a source of true peace and progress to the Dagbon Kingdom: we on our part have welcomed the pledge of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama to end this incessant conflict in Dagbon.”

“We have assured him of our maximum support and cooperation in this direction: we also call on all well meaning Dagombas and Ghanaians to do same.”

He cautioned persons perceived to be chieftaincy contractors in Dagbon against any attempt to thwart President Mahama’s effort.

Salifu Abdul-Razak thanked the chiefs, Imams, pastors and all the major stakeholders mediating the Dagbon chieftaincy dispute for their services.

“While thanking the Imams, pastors, chiefs and some politicians who are already working tirelessly for the peace of Dagbon, we wish to encourage all stakeholders to see this initiative as an opportunity to support government to bring lasting and sustainable peace to Dagbon.”
