New Patriotic Party (NPP) aspirant in the Asokwa Constituency, Maxwell Kofi Jumah is to be arraigned for court on Monday following his arrest on Saturday.
Kofi Juma was arrested for destroying some electoral materials with a supporter at the Ahinsan youth centre, the venue for the primaries in the Asokwa Constituency.

Police Deputy Public Relations Officers (PRO) in the Ashanti region, Godwin Ahiayo told Citi News that they are still investigating the matter.
“They are in custody assisting in investigations. We are holding them on two counts, that is causing unlawful damage to electoral materials and also conduct conducive to the breach of peace, he stated.
Godwin Ahiayo explained that Kofi Jumah and his accomplice have not yet been granted bail because “we were expecting the electoral officials to lodge an official complaint with the Police but because they were conducting the elections they couldn’t make it.”
“So we are expecting them to come to the Asokwa Divisional headquarters to give us a statement so we will probably consider granting them bail and put them before court by Monday,” he added.
