Some disgruntled members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Okai Koi South constituency of the Greater Accra Region have secured a court order restraining delegates in the constituency from voting in Saturday’s national delegate’s conference.
The injunction follows a similar action brought against three other constituencies in the Ashanti Region.
The disgruntled members in the constituency say the election of the current crop of leaders was unconstitutional.
Giving the reason for the injunction on Eyewitness News, the Spokesperson for the disgruntled members, Ms. Nana Konadu Prempeh stated that the party members sought a court injunction because party conducted illegal polling station elections.
Speaking further on the issue, she stated that “the election was illegal because some delegates weren’t called and even those who were called didn’t know which polling station they were supposed to vote from.”
She therefore stated that the party had sought a court injunction to refrain delegates in the constituency from voting.
“This is an injunction to stop them from voting in Tamale. It’s about conducting a free fair and election so everybody can participate in the election.
“We believe in the principle and the integrity and the democracy of the party. The party is a party that believes in democracy. We are not here for illegalities. We need to get it right from the foundation,” she insisted
