Ghana could soon become a major hub for the assembly and manufacture of generator sets. This is the vision of leading generator company G&J technical services.

In line with this long term vision, G&J has outlined a number of programmes to help develop the skill set required to achieve this.

The firm this week donated two sets of generators to the engineering departments of Accra and Kumasi Polytechnics to be used for practical training.

Speaking to Citi Business News, Managing Director of G&J Technical, Godfrey Asiedu said the donations are expected to empower the institutions to churn out more technicians with better insight in practical engineering.

“We are supporting the institutions that have helped us over the years to become who we are as a company. The more we train people to get to know what a generator is, as we go on as a country, then gradually we will be able to produce it ourselves,” he said.

According to Godfrey Asiedu, “producing generators entail a lot, but, one day, we will get there. Assemblying can be done, but we need economies of scale; in terms of how many we need in a year. We need to do the cost-benefit analysis,” he added.
