The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer Nana Akufo Addo has asked delegates to elect Parliamentary candidates who are capable of winning their seats to deliver an NPP majority in the next parliament.

“These candidates should also be the ones who can work hard to ensure an NPP victory in the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections,” he insisted.

This will be the final hurdle for the party as it prepares for the general elections.

In a statement Nana Addo asked party members to exhibit a sense of maturity and unity of purpose on  Saturday.

He said it is his expectation that the elections will be transparent, and held in accordance with the Constitution and regulations of the party and the laws governing the conduct of pubic elections.

He also extended best wishes to all aspirants and delegates of the party who will participate in primaries and urged delegates to have healthy primaries.

Meanwhile the Ashanti Regional Executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) say all necessary arrangements have been put in place for a successful constituency primary on Saturday.

Speaking to Citi News, Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NPP, Sam Payne said both delegates and candidates are ready for the event.

“Everything is on course..the negotiation we have the Electoral Commission we have done that. We have spoken with the security agencies and every district is providing security for all the constituencies,” he said.

In the Northern Region, Citi News’ Abdul Karim Naatogmah reported that all venues for the elections have been secured.

12 constituencies can’t vote

Meanwhile delegates in 12 constituencies will not have the opportunity to elect a candidate.

The 12 constituencies which are spread across the Greater Accra, Western, Volta, Ashanti and Upper West Regions are grappling with issues concerning the candidature of some of the aspirants.

Bia East, Bia West, Juaboso and Akontonbra in the Western Region will be excused from voting following a request by the regional executives of the party.

The party’s Regional Secretary, Charles Bissue said the elections in these constituencies had to be suspended for strategic reasons.
