Togo President, Faure Gnassingbe has described the recent fire explosion incident at the GOIL fuel station as one of the most serious trials for Ghana.
“This is one of the most serious trials that Ghana has had to undergo in its history but we believe that through these trials, Ghanaians will come out successfully” said Gnasigbe.
[contextly_sidebar id=”5iXKaaM19SwSrOgxtmeWTJj1vru8T3jw”]Gnassingbe is currently in Ghana to commiserate with the nation after a heavy loss.
He visited the accident site at Circle and the 37 Military Hospital where some of the wounded are receiving treatment with President Mahama.
“As it is done in African tradition, President Ouatara and myself had to consult one another and we quickly understood that there was the need for us to come and express our compassion and share with you the mourning and also clean your tears,” Gnassigbe stated.
He also expressed sympathy on behalf of Togo and Cote D’lvoire, saying the incident also affects both countries.
NADMO distributes relief items to flood victims
Meanwhile the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has been distributing some relief items to persons affected by the floods.
Speaking on Eyewitness News, the Osu Klottey Submetro NADMO Coordinator, William Ayensu said: “We are giving relief items to affected persons we registered.”
He said about 97 affected households had so far been given relief items.
Items distributed to the affected persons include mattresses, blankets, mosquito nets, used clothing, among others.
He revealed that NADMO took the initiative to distribute the relief items because majority of the affected persons had lost properties.
“Some of them have nothing at all , all the things have been swept away so we need to get something for them”
