The Ga West Municipal Assembly has demolished some structures on waterways including a washing bay at Mile Seven in the Greater Accra Region.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the area, Sam Atukwei Quaye told citifmonline.com that the washing bay was demolished because it was operating without permit.
The exercise, he said is to forestall the occurrence of flooding in the area.
The Ghana Meteorological Service has predicted that there will be more rains this year especially in the Southern part of the country.
Several lives and properties were destroyed after a heavy downpour in the Greater Accra Region.
Some hundreds of people also died in a fire explosion at a fuel station at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle.
Government has announced that it will be embarking on a demolition exercise to prevent the occurrence of flooding in the country.
