Residents of Weija and surrounding communities will have to move out of the area with immediate effect as the Ghana Water Company may soon begin spilling excess water from the Weija  Dam

The decision to spill excess water from the dam is due to the heavy rainfall in the region, some of which is expected upstream of the Densu River  which is accompanied by high flows into the dam.

The exercise is  to protect the dam from possible damage or collapse from the overflows from the heavy rainfall.
