A former Board Chair of the Agricultural Development Bank (adb), Ibrahim Adam has described as legitimate the unionized bodies call for the Managing Director of the bank to step aside.

[contextly_sidebar id=”yjsZk5UNha1XZHet6Wh9s4nLkwuBaRd8″]The unionized bodies argue that the MD’s continuous stay in office could impede proper examination of alleged gross incompetence and corruption by management.

Ibrahim Adam on Tamale based Radio Diamond’s morning show programme said the unions were right with their demands.

“Ghanaians deserve to know what the problem is or what the issues are and I think that it is even wrong for the MD to be allowed to go to work whilst he is being investigated: it will rather be better to let a very good team of investigators move in very quickly.”

According to him, the bank made significant achievements during his tenure as the Board Chair for which reason such gains should not be eroded.

He insisted that external auditing should be conducted into the bank’s operations to clear the general mistrust between management and the unionized bodies.

He however called for cease the media warfare between the bank’s management and the unionized bodies.

“It is not good adb for people to be talking about it every day especially uniformed people making comments about the situation there: if people are so concerned about the goings in the bank why can’t they write memoranda to the authorities for them to take note, why must you go on air to say things you are not sure of, why?”

“They shouldn’t bring that to adb,” the former adb Board Chair, Ibrahim Adam warned.
As a major shareholder, he tasked government to immediately address the impasse between management and the unionized bodies.

The state owned adb is lately witnessing agitations over management’s intended public listing of the bank to seek capital injection into its operations.

This led to a day’s nationwide sit-down strike by the bank’s unionized bodies.
