Students’ of Bolgatanga Technical Institute will have to stay home a little longer after the school was closed down last Saturday.

This is because authorities of the school are yet to submit a report of a revolt to the Upper East regional Education directorate for advise.

The Bolgatanga Technical Institute was closed down last Saturday after students demanded for renovation works to be initiated on sections of the boys dormitory.

The call came after a student raised a false fire alarm and as they rushed out, three of their colleagues sustained various degrees of injuries.

The aggrieved students refused to eat meals prepared for them by the school until their demands were met; a situation that resulted in the closure of the school.

But Speaking to Citi News the principal of BOTECH, Mr. Thomas Amare said it is unclear when students will be called back to school.

According to him, a situational report will be presented to the Regional Director of Education Emmanuel Zumakpe for advice.

Mr. Amare said some technical teachers and students were working on the dormitory guardrails but cannot renovate the story-building dormitory as demanded by students’.

He added that students did not destroy any school property and that the school is calm and the Police will continue to patrol the school particularly in the night.
