A New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant for the Ledzokuku constituency, Dr. Okoe Boye was attacked at gun point at his residence this dawn.

Narrating the incident to Citi News, Dr. Boye said about three gentlemen broke into his residence around 1 am and stole about 700 ghana cedis and other items.

“Last night we actually went to do some house to house campaign so I got home around 11pm in the night. After the campaign, I went home, had my bath, took something and slept but around 1: 50am, I was awoken from my sleep with a loud noise… my door had been broken into pieces then three gentlemen with masks entered the room.I was disoriented because I was sleeping. …They asked me for my wedding ring and they also took about 700 ghana cedis away”

According to him, the robbers also broke into his sister-in-law’s apartment and stole some items as well.

He revealed that the robbers were aggressive until he told them he was a medical officer.

“They were aggressive … so I told them I am medical officer; luckily one of the gentlemen who was going through my bag saw a stethoscope and immediately he realised that, he apologised and told the other guys not to harm anybody.”

Dr. Boye said the robbers were “holding guns and acid” during the attack.

He stated that he “made a few calls before they [robbers] left so the Police arrived but they came late- when the robbers had fled.”

Dr. Boye observed that this is the second time he had suffered an armed robbery attack.

He was however unable to confirm whether the attack had any political undertones.

He was also hopeful the Police will apprehend the perpetrators.
