NPP Steering Committee clears Carlos Ahenkorah

New Patriotic Party (NPP) Steering Committee has cleared aspiring Parliamentary candidate for Tema West, Carlos Ahenkorah.

Carlos Ahenkorah was disqualified from the race by the party’s vetting committee for not nurturing the NPP in the constituency.

He had earlier refuted the claims.

[contextly_sidebar id=”VW8tkZuRM5FBaqTG4KJxypv69Dlg3Cjy”]Incumbent Member of Parliament for the area, Irene Naa Torshie Addo has also been fingered for masterminding the disqualification of Carlos Ahenkorah.

The matter was subsequently referred to the party’s Steering Committee.

After deliberating on the matter, the Steering Committee overturned the disqualification of Carlos Ahenkorah as well as other who had suffered a similar fate.

This was announced in a letter signed by NPP General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong, dated May 19.

According to the letter, “the steering Committee…made the decisions on behalf of the National Executive Committee, under a certificate of urgency.”

“The meeting decided that some aspirants who have been vetted are to be given up to the publication of Notice of Poll to make arrangements to complete the payment of their filling/development fees. Notification is being sent to them.”

Other aspirants who had their disqualifications overturned include, Isaac Owireko Amofa who was contesting in the Dome-Kwabenya constituency and Carl Dey, Ayawaso Central.

The rest are:

Adwoa Amoako – Tema West

Agyeman Prempeh – Tema Central

Vicky Bright  – Okai Koi South

In another development, the disqualification of Mr Cann and Joseph Mensah, aspirants for New Edubiase and Kwesimintsim respectively were upheld.

“The meeting also upheld the request from the respective Regions to put on hold the primaries for the following Constituecies:

Bia East, Bia West, Juaboso and Akontombra – Western Region

Nadowli-Kaleo – Upper West

Nkwanta South – Volta

The following cases were referred to the National Appeals Committee:

Nii Noi Nortey – Korley Klottey

Adjetey – Obom-Domeabra

Alex Blankson – Adrofuom
