Awormefia, Togbui Sri III of Anlo hinted that his outfit would push for the abrogation of contracts of contractors who unnecessarily delay projects in his traditional area.
He noted that some contractors are creating problems for the keta Municipal Assembly as they delay or abandon their projects.
[contextly_sidebar id=”eR5M0EMaAT7I9uIZBPvdqN10xo24AR8p”]He referred to a student dormitory for the Keta Health Assistant School which was started in 2006, scheduled to be completed in 2007 but work has grounded to a halt without any explanation.
The Paramount chief said such attitudes by contractors would not be tolerated in the Anlo state.
‘’It was shocking news to me when I heard that the contractor had abandoned his job. Contractors who would not stick to their job but preferred to leave it midway would be kicked out’’ he insisted.
Togbui Sri III made the observation during an inspection of development projects in the traditional area.
The Municipal chief executive Mr. Sylvester Tornyeavah said although projects spearheaded by the assembly are moving on smoothly the said dormitory project which was awarded by the health ministry had stalled despite efforts to bring the contractor to site.
“The contractor started the project in 2006 and abandoned it in 2009. Several efforts to draw the attention of the ministry to call the contractor to site proofed futile” he explained.
Togbui Sri however pledged his commitment to ensure such that “recalcitrant” contractors are brought back to site and commended the Assembly for making giant strides in improving the lives of the people in the area.
