Workers (UNICOF) will today protest the decision by the Agricultural Development Bank (adb) to maintain the Managing Director of the bank, Mr. Kpordzih.
[contextly_sidebar id=”XO7y0V9ThRTQ54dgVpYjU8d0hSatRknP”]Members of UNICOF signalled their intent to embark on a series of public protests against the management of the bank over alleged acts of financial misappropriation and the scheduled Initial Public Offering (IPO) of the bank’s shares.
They were however asked to suspend their plans following a meeting with Employment and Labour Relations Minister, Haruna Iddrisu.
The bank also agreed to put on hold the IPO which would have seen the bank offload about 100 million shares representing 75 percent ownership of the bank to raise about GH¢300 million.
Presently, the Bank of Ghana (BoG) has initiated investigations into the allegations being leveled against the MD and the board of governors.
Despite moves by the BoG to investigate acts of misappropriation against the MD and board of governers, the group is still pushing for their removal.
At a meeting held between ADB staff and National Executives of UNICOF on Tuesday night, the former demanded an immediate strike to register their displeasure with the bank’s decision to maintain Mr. Kpordzih as the Managing Director.
Speaking to Citi Business News, the General Secretary of UNICOF John Esiape said: “We have served notice of our decision to embark on a strike… We are saying that the MD who represents management must leave… and that is going to be championed by all the institutions under UNICOF.”
