The Interior Minister, Kwesi Ahwoi has imposed a dusk to dawn curfew on the Nakpanduri district and its surrounding towns in the Northern region.
The imposition of the curfew which came upon the advice of the Northern Regional Security Council (REGSEC), follows communal violence which has claimed lives and properties.
The Minister has also placed a total ban on carrying arms, ammunition and any offensive weapons within the affected communities.
Violent clashes between Mamprusis and Konkombas on one hand and Bimobas on the other has led to the death of three people.
The curfew is expected to restore law and order but the Member of Parliament for Bunkpurugu, Solomon Boar thinks otherwise.
According to him, the move will do “more harm than good.”
He further described the move as unnecessary and “I can assure you that even the security themselves are very shocked that they have put a curfew on the township because people think that it is unnecessary at the moment.”
