47 people believed to be Fulanis, migrating to Ghana from Nigeria have been intercepted by the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) at the Segbe-border, near Dzodze in the Ketu-North District.
The migrants, made up of 10 men, 12 women and 25 children, with their personal belongings, were travelling on board a Ghanaian registered cargo truck, ER 956 Z, from Nigeria.
The group claimed they were on their way to Mafi-Adidome in the Central-Tongu District of the Volta Region.
A GIS source said the group arrived at the Segbe frontier at about 1630 hours on Sunday with no travelling documents.
He said they were however holding an unsigned letter from a Nigerian road transport union introducing them as Fulanis, who wanted to settle in Ghana.
The letter, the source said, pleaded that they were allowed safe entry into the country.
He said after some brief detention at the border, the group was moved to a destination where interrogation would continue.
The source said the driver of the truck, whose name was not given, was assisting in investigations.
