An elder of the family of the murdered Adam Mahama, has called on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to root out divisive elements working to destroy the party.

Rockson Bukari described such divisive elements as opportunists, stressing that the party needs unity.

“We need unity and those who are there trying to disorganize us; we should get them out. We should get them out immediately. We do not need them because they want to destroy our party.

“They know where they are coming from and they are opportunists. They should go back there and they should not destroy our party.”

Bukari reaffirmed the commitment of the late Mahama’s family to continue the fight to win power for the NPP in the 2016 general elections.

“The battle that Mahama started; we will continue to fight and I would like to assure you that the family and the NPP in the Upper East Region will continue from where Adam left and continue to make sure that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo come 2016 will become the President of Ghana.”

Meanwhile, the Minority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu is convinced that the gruesome murder of the party’s late Upper East regional chairman will not occur again.

Describing his death as unfortunate, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu said the murder of Adam Mahama was a horrendous act which should not be allowed to reoccur.

“Never again shall we witness as nation such a barbaric event. It is unfortunate that today, we should be marking an event connected to Mahama Adam in such a manner. We are here because of the horrendous crime that has been committed,” he stated.

In his remarks, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu said the late Mahama was an astute politician who was very influential in the Upper East Region, adding that “we know his position will be hard to fill but God in his own appointed time will do what is right”.
