When female hiplife artiste, Shegee Styla, shot the video of her new song, Let’s Go at Z Town, a Zongo community at Laterbiokorshie recently, her only reason at the time was to project the Zongo communities in her song.

But it seems the former member of the defunct group, Triple M, has courted the displeasure of some leaders in the community when in a scene of the video, she was crowned the queen of Z-Town.

According to her, when the issue started sometime last week, she brushed it aside because she regarded it as one of the challenges that comes with the job but she took matters seriously when she started receiving threatening messages to denounce the title of the Queen of Z-Town.

She told Showbiz on Tuesday that she finds it rather childish that anyone would fight with her over a title when what happened in the video was just a creative work.

“I had a call from some people that Z-Town had their crowned king and queen so they won’t accept it if I parade myself as the queen of Z-town.

“ I even met with the leaders in the community and explained my side of the story to them but they only accepted my explanation with the condition that I shoot a new video.

“How can I shoot a new video just because of a scene? It was just being creative so I’m surprised that this should generate a lot of tension.

“ Well, I have apologised to them and that is the best I can do. I can’t shoot a new video because it is expensive and I cannot bear the financial cost,” she stated.

Talking about the song which features Rashid Metal of No Noise fame, Shegee Styla said that she was inspired by the many success stories of people who had grown up in Zongo communities  despite the negative impressions about them.

For someone who grew up at Z-Town, she said she was aware of the “good of the Zongo communities” and wanted to tell their story as it was and to honour Zongo communities like Nima, New Town, Darkuman, Fadama, Ashaiman and Sukura.

Real name, Mildred Mark Hansen, Shegee Styla released her debut solo album, My Time, after the split from Triple M.

She has worked with musicians such as Tony Tetuila, Tic Tac and King Ayisoba.
