Globe Productions is set to show the latest play from their collection this weekend at the National Theatre.

For those who missed Thank God for Idiots, The Second Coming of Nkrumah and Don’t Dress for Christmas last year, this is another chance of watching another exciting, hilarious and educative stage play titled What Can Come Can Come.

Amidst the rhetoric’s of “ Yen tie Obiaa” and “Dead Goat”, the play seeks to exemplify how such words play a role in the Ghanaian culture as well as our family settings. The theme of the play is centered on pride, its negatives and positives, if any.

The play was written and directed by Latif Abubakar of Globe Productions in partnership with National Theatre, Graphic Showbiz and Citi FM.

Synopsis

Frank, the poor unemployed graduate grew up not knowing who his father was. Anytime he asked about his father, his mother said, “Your father is dead, not exactly dead but dead”.

Now an adult, Frank meets and falls in love with the daughter of Mr. Arthur, a man whose “Yentie Obiaa” attitude led to an early retirement and a drain on his family’s finances. Yet, Mr. Arthur doesn’t mind his kind: an egoistic proud man, if rich, to date his daughter rather than poor Frank.

Does Efua give in to the rich man and her dad’s pressure?

How does the story of Frank’s father being “DEAD NOT EXACTLY DEAD BUT DEAD” unfold?

What Can Come Can Come features Ecow Smith Asante, 2013 Ghana Most Beautiful winner, Poka and some rising comedians like Clement Ashitey a.k.a Sarkodie and Prince Amoabeng a.k.a General Ntatia.

The play shows at the National Theatre on the 22nd and 23rd of May at the National Theatre at 4pm and 8pm, for the first and second shows respectively.
