A team of investigators from the Homicide unit of the Ghana Police Service have been dispatched to the Upper East Region to investigate the circumstances that led to the death of the Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the region.
“The homicide unit is coming from Accra, we will soon go and pick them from the Airport,” Public Relations Officer of the Upper East Regional Police Command, ASP Thomas Agbanyo has told Citi News.

He died on Thursday morning at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital where he was receiving treatment.
According to the Police, the Homicide personnel will help facilitate investigations into the matter.
Mortal remains embalmed
ASP Agbanyo said the mortal remains of Adams Mahama is at the intensive care unit “well-embalmed waiting for the postmortem to be conducted then we see the way forward.”
Meanwhile, the Police have confirmed that one of the suspects arrested in connection with the matter is being flown to Accra for further investigations.
Reprisal attacks
ASP Thomas Agbanyo said that they have launched a manhunt for the second accomplice.
Though he indicated that the area is currently calm he said for the fear of reprisal attacks, “we are beefing up our security so that what happened at the mortuary or hospital will not happen again properly in the house of any of the executives. Not only NPP but other parties as well.”
“It’s too early for me to tell what is the preliminary investigation as at now. He the deceased mentioned that they were two people who attacked him there before he could not speak much. So we are saying that lets wait, lets stick to the internal security arrangement making sure that everybody goes on his work so that we can continuously go into the investigation and come out with the perpetrators of this crime,” he added.
