A youth activist of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region, Alidu Seidu has described as “sinful” the death of the NPP Upper East Regional Chairman, Adam Mahama.
The late Adam Mahama was pronounced dead on Thursday May 21, 2015 as a result of acidic attack by unknown assailants.
[contextly_sidebar id=”ZQVupY7WG1tdSvAB0Pn9i5gdZumd1zlz”]He did not survive the attack which Alidu Seidu suspects’ foul play within the NPP.
He asked the Police to fast track their investigations and bring the perpetrators to book.
The Asawase NPP Parliamentary hopeful in an exclusive Citi News interview in Konya-Turkey suspected the late Adams Mahama’s death was planned and executed for unknown reasons.
“Adams Mahama’s death is something that we all need to condemn and I will call on the leadership of the party that this is the time for us to sit and come together and fight these sort of things.”
“I will say it is so disgusting: I saw the pictures on the social media and as I am sitting down here talking to you, I have lost my composure.”
Alidu Seidu condemned factionalism in the NPP. “Factionalism doesn’t help the party at all: so let us come together and look at how we can rise again and unseat the NDC in 2016: we are toying with the destiny of Ghanaians.”
“Posterity will judge the current leadership of the party if the NPP does not win the 2016 general elections,” Alidu Seidu fumed.
The immediate former Assemblyman for Adukrom electoral area in the Ashanti Region called for calm in the Upper East Region.
He charged leadership of the party to find an antidote to the internal wrangling which in his estimation is causing fear and panic among party loyalists and sympathizers.
“What is happening is so bad that you see looking at the situation down in Ghana now, Ghanaians have reposed their confidence in us calling on the NPP to come and salvage the situation we find ourselves in and we cannot achieve this without unity.”
Alidu Seidu however allayed fears that the NPP’s petty squabbles could affect Nana Akufo Ado’s 2016 Presidential bid.
