Hundreds of Vodafone customers enjoyed free browsing at selected Vodafone Retail Shops across the country over the weekend.

This formed part of Vodafone Ghana’s activities marking the World Telecommunications and Information Society Day (WTISD), which is celebrated annually on May 17.

[contextly_sidebar id=”ebOaHbv3HVALhaFZdNtMI7yugVwR6T0i”]The WTISD is celebrated to observe the formation of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Vodafone Ghana marked the 150th anniversary of ITU with free browsing giveaway on Sunday May 17 from 11 am to 5pm.

Speaking on the idea behind this gesture and the significance of the WTISD, Patricia Obo-Nai, Director of Technology at Vodafone Ghana said: “WTISD presents endless possibilities of the internet and its benefits to society. Vodafone wants customers to enjoy the experience of browsing on Ghana’s best network for 3G+ internet speed. At Vodafone, our commitment will always be to provide unmatched customer experience”.

Ken Mensah Kpoh, a beneficiary of the browsing offer at Vodafone’s retail shop in Tema expressed his surprise about the free internet service and the fact that the shop was open on a Sunday:

“I saw the notice about the free browsing the previous day in this cafe and I thought it was a prank. When I got here today, I was given a code to browse with and I’m really enjoying it. Thanks Vodafone for this surprise”.

“I’m an internet savvy person and when I heard of the free browsing offer by Vodafone, I quickly rushed to the Osu shop to download my favourite movies I haven’t been able to download over the past week and it was amazingly fast too”  Yaw Tsumasi

Customers who visited Vodafone Retail Shops at Cantonments, Accra North, High Street, Tema, Osu, A&C Shopping Mall, Tamale, Koforidua, Takoradi, KNUST café, Kumasi Main and Ho on Sunday benefited from the free 2-hour browsing whiles Vodafone Ghana’s hash tag #vodafonefreebrowsing was the second highest trending item on Twitter in Ghana on that day.
