demoWorkers of the Tema Dock Labour Company have organized a demonstration to call for the reinstatement of their executive director, Mark Boafo.

Staff of the firm claim management has no cause for booting out Mr. Boafo.

Citi News’ Tema correspondent, Elvis Washington was at the scene of the demonstration and reported that the workers are demanding Mr. Boafo be reinstated because he was liaising with management to help solve their concerns.

Some of the workers told Citi News, “we sent all our demands to him, he was willing o help us when these people sacked him.”

“Some of our problems have been there for about 10 years and when he came, he started working on them. He promised that within a period of two weeks, he will solve our problems. He was almost solving this issue and when it was left with two days, the local union and others sacked him with no reasonable explanation,” another lamented.

The board chairman of the Tema Dock Labor Company, Jacob Donkor in his address to the workers discounted the assertion that Mr. Boafo had been dismissed.

He explained that Mark Boafo was sent home because “some workers are agitating and his presence there is causing some troubles so we asked him to stay at home and work from the house.”

“He has not been sacked. Who said Mark Boafo has been sacked?” he asked.
