Teacher Trainees in training colleges across the country have boycotted classes to demand the re-introduction of the allowances.

The decision was fiercely rejected by the students.
A Deputy Minister of Education in charge of Tertiary, Okudzeto Ablawkwa was heckled in the Ashanti Region over the decision.
Government has however been silent on the matter ever since the decision was announced.
But speaking to citifmonline.com, the National Public Relations Officer for the Teacher Trainees Assoication of Ghana (TTAG), Patrick Karkari Antwi says students in all the 38 public Colleges of Education in the country will not return to school until their allowances are restored.
“We have to resume from break today but we won’t go because we want the government to restore our allowances. So we are boycotting classes,” he said.
Karikari said “looking at the way things are going it seems government is not ready to compromise,” adding that we will only return to the classrooms if our grievances are resolved.”
Meanwhile, Teacher trainees at the Nusrat Jahan Teacher Training College of Education in Wa are religiously observing the boycott.
Citi News Latif Mahama who visited the campus of the Nusrat Jahan Teacher Training College of Education said the students only came to the school to register after which they return back home.
