In the coming days, Citi Sports understands that Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah will return from his knowledge tour of Europe which took him to top clubs on the continent in his quest to polish his preparation for the World Cup.

Brazil 2014 kicks off in just over 60 days.

On his return, Appiah would set about drawing up his final squad to submit to Fifa by the middle of next month. It is also expected that the Ghana FA to begin preparations to get ready for the pre-tournament tour of Holland and the USA.

Meanwhile, the Daily Guide newspaper has quoted Kwesi Appiah as saying that he would recall former skipper John Mensah for the World Cup if the veteran is fit.

Nicknamed the Rock of Gibraltar in Ghana for his defensive solidity, Mensah’s career has been plagued by injuries.

He barely made it to the 2010 World Cup where treatment by a Serbian faith healer was believed to have helped him keep his fitness for much of the time.

Since then however his club and country career has suffered largely due to his recurring back problems.
