The Executive Director of IMANI Ghana has described the governing National Democratic Congress’(NDC) plan to set up a business committee for its members as “a dumb idea.”
[contextly_sidebar id=”yWiYyGdUx50Uevc2F7qvnyB0IpAWKz7U”]“Frankly this new idea is really dumb. I don’t think this is what you should do right now when everybody is going through an economic atrophy of a sort you need to be able to do things right,”Franklin Cudjoe said.
The NDC inaugurated a number of committees to help the party implement its manifesto promises to aid the development of the nation.
They are the political committee, election committee, economic committee, social services committee, communication committee, disciplinary committee, complaints committee, the legal committee and the business development committee.
The party’s Chairman, Kofi Portuphy said members of the business and social services committee will ensure that that supporters are empowered to sustain social activities such as attending funerals, outdooring and other social services.
However speaking on Citi FM’s News Analysis Programme, The Big Issue, Franklin Cudjoe said the idea of empowering people to attend funerals is in itself defeatist.
“I have no problems with people setting up committees to do stuff. I will be interested in the party setting up committees to advance the course of social democracy in an innovative state,” Franklin Cudjoe maintained.
He remarked that it is unfair for the governing party to devise measures that will only the benefit “card bearing members”.
