Work on the “Gang of four” roads will soon be completed as government has secured funding for the projects.

The funds, to be provided by the China Exim-Bank, will facilitate works on the roads which has been stalled for over five years.

Speaking to Citi News, the Minister for Roads and Highways, Alhaji Inusah Fusseini, said some monies have been paid to the contractors to continue the project but added that the expected funds will lead to the completion of the project in the coming months.

“We put in an application to the China government to impress on the China Exim Bank to support the Chinese nationals working on the ‘Gang of four’ and I am happy to announce to you that the application has been accepted and it is going through assessment now and in due course there will be a secured source of funding for the construction of these roads,” he said.

He also stated that the Ministry of Roads and Highways had paid some monies to the contractors working on these roads.

“Just last week I paid some monies to the contractor working on the Apedwa-Suhum road. He has promised that he will finish the Accra bound over lay in the next few months,” he added.
