light outElectricity consumers are likely to experience further power outages following the shut down of a generator   at the Aboadze thermal plant.

According to GRIDCo, the shut down has reduced electricity supply available to serve consumers by 150 megawatts.

The shut down of the plant which occurred on February 15th, 2014 for repairs was  expected to be completed by Sunday.

The problem, he said, was however extended because repairs on the machines had delayed.

“The initial information we had from them was that the machine was going to be back on Sunday. Unfortunately it has been delayed due to some problems.”

The problem has led to the damage of some units at the VRA’s Thermal plant at Aboadze.

Giving further explanations on the problem on the Citi Breakfast Show, the Head of Public Relations of GRIDCo, Albert Quainoo said, “we had to go through an emergency shut down because a fault was developing and they had to work on it,”
