Pressure Group, Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) is calling for a full investigations into allegations of abuse of office against the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) Boss, Kofi Portuphy.

[contextly_sidebar id=”u0pDm1dHm4IaAbFRSZCnkSKkk33OIO8v”]Portuphy has tended in his resignation to the President and is currently awaiting approval.

AFAG however believes despite Portuphy’s resignation,  the allegations made made against him as  NADMO Boss shoudl be investigated.

Speaking to Citi News, Chairman of AFAG, Dr. Ayew Afriyie posited that  the investigation will put to rest all those “allegations of misappropriation of funds”

“…It will be good for him to be investigated especially when he has resigned because all those allegations are hanging on his neck – an albatross and it will haunt him,”he further explained.

Many groups and individuals including Ghana’s opposition group; the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had earlier called for his resignation since he was appointed as the National Chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress(NDC), saying his continuous stay in office as NADMO boss was in breach of the constitution.

Some of the members of the opposition described his stay in office as unacceptable, saying the President’s refusal to address the matter portrays him as “indecisive and incompetent.”

Though some government communicators have defended his action the Presidency and Portuphy have however remained silent despite the intense pressure.

His deputy, Anita Desoso also resigned from his position months after she was  appointed as Vice Chairperson of the party.
