A 70-year-old farmer at Ekumfi Abuakwa, Yaw Amehyia, has been jailed 20 with hard labour by a Cape Coast Circuit Court for defiling an eight-year-old girl.

Police Chief Inspector Charles Yao Anku told the Court presided by Ms Audrey Kocuvie-Tay in April , the victim who lived with her grandmother at Ekumfi Abuakwa in the same vicinity as the convict.
He said Amehyia, who voluntarily offered to escort the victim home with a torch light lured her into his room, had sexual intercourse with her and kept her in his room until the dawn.
When the victim got home, she started vomiting and recounted her ordeal.
He said Amehyia admitted the offence in the presence of a public gathering and was sent to the chief of the town who sent to the police
Appearing in Court barefooted, the grey-haired elderly man pleaded guilty to the charge of defilement, but was convicted on his own plea.
The presiding Judge, however, asked the convict to explain the “a dog-bone analogy” he made in his caution statement and he responded by saying “when a dog sees bones, it chews them”.
The convict further told the Court that in his case, the bone went to the dog and the dog chewed it, meaning the victim came to him and he had sex with her.
The presiding judge expressed unhappiness at the unremorseful convict and urged parents and guardians to keep an eye on their children.
