The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has served notice of plans to sue residents and companies in the Ashanti region who are still indebted to the company.

Hundreds of residents in the Ashanti region who are indebted to ECG have already been cut from the Nation grid as part of a mass disconnection exercise.

The Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer of ECG, Erasmus Kyere Baidoo told Citi Business news ‘our objective is not to disconnect but to retrieve money. Customers must not wait and accumulate debt before they pay once we have given you power pay for it. We will take legal action to retrieve our money.’ He said.
