New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for the Adansi Asokwa Constituency, K.T. Hammond has rejected claims that he intentionally missed vetting ahead of party’s parliamentary primaries.

[contextly_sidebar id=”dFjF12Rwk0adv4mBHZQZvpo3Tc9wGHTr”]He explained that during the vetting he was away from the country hence his absence from the vetting processes.

He however said the committee has thus agreed to vet him on Wednesday.

K.T. Hammond made the claims on Eyewitness News on the backdrop of a decision he had taken to fire his secretary.

He has accused his secretary, one Alex Aboagye, of conniving with a member of the NPP to contest against him in the parliamentary primaries.

“At no point did I run away from vetting,” he fumed adding that “the young man who want to contest is going all over the airwaves and polluting minds that I have been disqualified because I run away from vetting. The national executive, the regional executives, the constituency executives knew that I was out of the of the country for a good course.  And they had given me tomorrow if it was possible to attend.”

He has however vowed to pursue the matter through the rank and file of the party insisting that “the point is that there is some amount of criminality in this matter, and I’m pursing it to the regional level, to the national level and the like.”

He argued that the young man contesting him does not qualify as per the party’s requirement to contest the position hence must be called to order.
