Majority Leader in Parliament, Alban Bagbin has hinted that government will soon nominate more persons  to serve as Supreme Court judges.

[contextly_sidebar id=”bceU40ku1aa29T7rqxa7ErQMLFwnGhl2″]“So far the addition to the Appeals Court and the Supreme Court are personalities that have proven themselves in private lives. I have known some of them from their school days and I know what they are capable of.  I know there is still a search to add more and I know the search is around some personalities that I highly respect.  And I pray that they will also come up as additional judges to the supreme court.”

Alban Bagbin disclosed this in an interview Citi News in relation to appointment of two new persons who have been appointed to the Supreme Court.

They are the Sole Commissioner, Justice Yaw Apau and a former General Secretary of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Lawyer Gabriel Pwamang.

Alban Bagbin however urged the newly appointed Judges to be impartial.

“Their independence should not be seen in the judgment that they deliver but in the conduct of the judges themselves. The judges should not portray themselves as answerable or responsible to any other group or association of people whether it’s a political party or a profession. They must be seen as impartial and independent,” he added.
