Members of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) in the Tema West Constituency are heading to court to compel party executives to publish results from the vetting committee.

[contextly_sidebar id=”OyZjqCTgjIzA0uTSiHsYkAmGSuSAAfa3″]The committee vetted some parliamentary aspirants in the constituency but party members say the result has unusually delayed sparking fears of a possible disqualification of one of the aspirants, Carlos Ahenkorah.

Speaking to Citi News one of the supporters Nana Yaw Boakye said party members in the constituency have decided to file a motion to force the committee to release the results.

“I’ve instructed my lawyers to file law suit at the human rights court to push the committee to come out with the decision on the vetting of all the Tema West candidates. We were supposed to come out with the report on Friday. What is keeping them? That is the question.”

He believes the NPP will lose in the 2016 elections if the Tema West NPP branch continues to connive with the vetting committee.

“There is going to be a lot of problem and a lot of issues in Tema West NPP and if that is how the region is going to connive and condone with what the constituency vetting committee is saying, it will not augur well for the party in 2016 … the party… is lacing its boots to wrestle power from the NDC in 2016 and if we move down this lane I think then Nana Addo is not going to be President in 2016. It is not good at all.” he said.

The Tema West NPP’s constituency organizer has  alleged  that the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Irene Naa Torshie Addo caused the disqualification of a parliamentary candidate aspirant ahead of the 2012 elections.

Young Arhin further revealed that masterminding the disqualification of aspirants is a common practice in the constituency which is why the delegates in the area kicked against an impending disqualification of an aspirant called Carlos Ahenkorah.
