The worsening power crisis in the country has compelled management of the state broadcaster, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) to cut its transmission hours.

[contextly_sidebar id=”YBa3QQ95lweRaO4xPC8NrU8dQLVS7Nc8″]The state broadcaster instead of transmitting 24-hours now ends transmission at midnight and resumes after 4am in the morning.

According to the Director General of GBC, Major (Rtd.) Albert Don Chebe the decision is to maintain the company’s operations.

He told Accra based Joy News that the cost of running generators 24 hours is increasingly becoming unbearable.

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is currently shedding a 12-hour light, 24-hours light-out system in the country due to three years of erratic power supply.

Various companies and institutions have complained that the situation is affecting their businesses.

Recently some media houses including the Multimedia Group Limited have also cut their transmission hours and the British Council has also shut down its premises near the National Theatre in Accra over the same issue.
