German Bundesliga side Fc Schalke 04 have announced the sack of former Black Stars midfielder Kevin Prince Boateng from the team in what seems like an attempt to reverse the recent trend of bad results the team has endured.

The Royal Blues have won only three of their last ten games in all competitions  and have fallen behind FC Augsburg, Borussia Monchengladbach and Bayer Levrkusen in a bid to secure a champions league spot.

The 28 year old midfielder has failed to find the back of the net in 18 appearances for the team this season. Another player who also packed his bags is German international Sidney Sam after sub par performances following his move from Bayer Leverkusen.

In a statement released by the club’s website;

Schalke sporting director Horst Heldt announced there would be consequences after Sunday’s defeat away to 1. FC Köln and the first action has been taken: Kevin-Prince Boateng and Sidney Sam have been released with immediate effect.Marco Höger is suspended from training and first-team action up to and including Saturday, 16th May.

The emergence of academy prospects Sadio Sane and Max Mayer have made it difficult for the injury prone Boateng to assert himself and as a result will be available as a free agent going into the summer transfer window.

Boateng has experienced mixed success in his career after stints with Tottenhan Hotspur,Portsmouth and Ac Milan.
