The Northern Regional branch of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) Saturday held its congress at Tamale, where a nine-member Regional Executive to steer its affairs for the next four years was elected.

The rest are Mr Hafix Mohammed, Youth Organizer, Madam Sabratu Mahama, Treasurer, Mr Nayi Alhassan, Education Officer and Mr Hamza Seidu, Organizer.

The elections were supervised by officials from the Electoral Commission whiles representatives of the National Democratic Congress, Progressive People’s Party and the People’s National Convention delivered solidarity messages.

Samia Yaba Nkrumah, the National Chairperson of CPP, who swore in the newly elected executives after the congress, urged members to remain faithful to the party and help make it a strong political force in the country.

She said the CPP had targeted to win at least four parliamentary seats in the region and urged members to work hard to achieve that.

Ivor Greenstreet, the General Secretary of CPP urged the winners and the losers to work together to ensure the forward march of the party.

Professor Edmund Delle, a former National Chairman of CPP, who also attended the congress, called for a strategy to rebrand and reorganize the party by blending its youth and elderly members to work for victory in the 2016 general election.

The congress was attended by some leading members of the party including Dr Abu Sakara, the 2012 Presidential Candidate of the CPP and Mr Bright Akwetey, Head of the Legal Committee of CPP.
