Cabinet has approved the Film Development and Classification Bill, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, has said.

In view of the approval, the Ministry of Tourism is to roll out a sensitization programme particularly for the industry players to solicit their inputs and fill in the gaps that may have arisen.

A statement issued on Friday explained that the Tourism Ministry had initiated consultation with stakeholders including the Ghana Actors Guild.

The Ministry assured stakeholders of government’s commitment to support and revive the film industry to ensure that it continues to play its role as catalyst to preserve and promote the cultural values of the country.

The statement said the inclusiveness of the arts practitioners in the activities of the Ministry is indicative of how the creative sector has fared in the first quarter of the year.

“The Okwawu Paragliding Festival, The China Outbound Travel and Tourism Market in Beijing, China and the recent trip to the 5th Carnival International de Victoria, Seychelles had a strong representation of the creative arts players”, it added.
