Metropolitan Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) and Ministries Department and Agencies (MDAs) in the Volta Region owe the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) GHC 9,293,219.70 in unpaid bills.

[contextly_sidebar id=”1j9zmgDUUns95v4PrSXo0pNXM9IzIIvE”]Theophilus Collins, GWCL Volta Regional Commercial Manager said individuals and corporate organizations in the region also owe the company over GHC 1,729,196.24.

Mr Collins said very soon, agents of the GWCL will embark on an exercise to demand payments and that those who default would have their services cut off.

He mentioned that his outfit will accept plausible arrangements by these customers to pay the arrears, as in the cases of some second cycle institutions, which paid a chunk and were currently negotiating payment terms for the remaining.

Mr Collins said the GWCL will not take explanations from MMDAs, passing the buck on central government, because the company has evidence that payment of utility bills now are to be made by the MMDAs.
