Mbaasem Foundation is pleased to announce the winners of the Mbaasem Writing Contest for Girls.
The contest, which was open to girls enrolled in Senior High Schools in Ghana, ran from 3rd December 2014 to January 31st 2015.
The winners will receive cash prizes of ranging from GHC 400 to GHC 1000.
The overall winner will take home GHC 1000 while the runner-up winner will receive GHC 700.
The Third place winner will also receive GHC 400.
Rosebella Thompson of Aburi Girls High School wins the first prize with for her story, “The Flute Does Matter too”.
Second place goes to Damilola Johnson of Tema International School for her story, “Diary of a Chibok Girl”.
The third place goes to Naa Shormeh Wilson of Wesley Girls’ High School for her story “Avenging Angel”.
In addition to the cash prizes, the winners will be invited to participate in a writing bootcamp with other young writers. The bootcamp will be taught by emerging and established writers.
All of the three winning stories will be published in the The Daily Graphic Newspapers in the coming weeks.
We thank all the students who entered in the competition.
Mbaasem is heartened and encouraged by the quality of the submitted stories, the creativity and the promise of our young writers.
