President John Dramani Mahama has urged celebrities in the country not to import mainstream politics into the creative industry.
“The division in our politics is bad enough. Let it not spread to our creative industry. Let’s cease the polemics,” stated President Mahama.
The first citizen of the country made the comment via his Twitter account.

The issue about the power crisis facing the country has stirred controversy among some celebrities in Ghana.
Whereas some have mounted pressure on government to quickly find a lasting solution to the crisis, others including actor, John Dumelo disagrees advising that government should be given ample time to deal with the situation.
[contextly_sidebar id=”XjOs5iiXLKgFnLW4cLC9nvRlQF6GUqvN”]He is quoted to have said, “We should just give him [Mahama] time to solve the problems. The problems are there but it’s four years; Rome wasn’t built in a day… and if after 2016 the problems are not solved, then we know what to do.”
But others including, Yvonne Nelson, award winning rapper, Sarkodie, Ghanaian Commedian, DKB and Lydia Forson on the other hand are leading a campaign dubbed #Dumsormuststop which is aimed at forcing to address the power situation with urgency.
They claim the power situation is affecting the creative industry too.
Though the President’s tweet never mentioned any name, it is believed that it is a call to the celebrities to seize fire.
Meanwhile, they have set May 16, 2015 to stage a procession and vigil to entrench the #Dumsormuststop campaign.
