An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced a former presidential candidate for the New Vision Party, Prophet Daniel Nkansah to one-month imprisonment and a fine of GHC 1,500 for causing unlawful damage.

[contextly_sidebar id=”f1eTSjor7zvZ3UuO6rGojX11gmMpHuHs”]Prophet Nkansah was arraigned before court in February 2014 alongside his son, Daniel Boahene Nkansah and eight others for conspiring to rob and robbery.

In his judgment, the Presiding Judge, Justice Francis Obiri discharged Prophet Nkansah of conspiracy to rob and robbery, stating that, the former leader of the New Vision Party had only engaged the other accused persons to either go and beat up the complaints or drive them away but not rob them.

His son Daniel Boahene Nkansah was also sentenced to one-day imprisonment and a fine of GHC 1000 for the same offence while the other eight persons were given two years respectively for conspiracy to rob and robbery.

According to the prosecution, Prophet Nkansah, his son and 10 others, robbed five workers of XY Canis Majoris Company Limited, and took away a sunny video camera, mobile phones, computers, cheque books, certificates, a driver’s license and GH₡1,000.00.

They further added that Chief Executive Officer of XY Majoris Company Limited in December 2013, rented four stores from Prophet Nkansah for a period of 10 years and paid GH¢111,680 as rent advance.

The prosecution said the company was now using three out of the four stores whilst Prophet Nkansah’s son, Nkansah Junior occupied one of them.
