The Head of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) in the West Mamprusi district of the Northern Region is appealing to Non–Governmental Organizations and agencies to come to the aid of residents displaced by the recent rainstorm in the Nasia community.
About 123,000 residents who were rendered homeless following Sunday’s torrential rains are now living with neighbours whose houses were spared.

My office has run out of items needed to help the displaced persons and I am yet to write a report to the National Headquarters in Accra to assist us,” James Braimah stated.
The West Mamprusi NADMO boss also appealed to philanthropists to assist them with mattresses, cement, clothes and other relief items in order to ameliorate the present living conditions of affected persons.
“We are simply overwhelmed because the damage is just too much. With the onset of the rains, the situation will worsen that is why I want everyone who has the capacity, to provide us with some relief items so that the affected persons can return to their homes,” he added.
This rainstorm comes almost three weeks after a similar one destroyed school buildings in the Machoni, Gulyansi and Lanja primary schools in the Nanumba North District causing the pupils in these schools to study under trees.
