The vigil is being spearheaded by award winning actress, Yvonne Nelson and  Sarkodie.

A letter, they wrote to the Police seeking clearance and protection for the event, stated that the vigil will be in the “form of a peaceful procession with lit candles, touches, lanterns and bobo.”

Ghana has been battling with inconsistent power supply in the country following three years of erratic power generation.

Several persons have mounted pressure on government to have the situation resolved.

Yvonne Nelson is presently leading a campaign on Twitter with the trending hashtag #DumsorMustStop.

The hashtag has received a lot of support from Ghanaians on Twitter with celebrities like Sarkodie joining in.

In a related development, Ghanaian comedian, Derrick Kobina Bonney known in show business as DKB, has advised the general public not to tag celebrities who call on the government to solve the power crisis to any political party.

He stressed that the power crisis is a national issue and it is imperative for citizens to come together to pressure the government to address it without the political labels.
