The Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr. Ekow Spio Gabrah  has urged Ghanaians to buy more made in Ghana goods in order to create more jobs in the country.

[contextly_sidebar id=”562hbGRHnAa8ZgugooyqMfkokhVAPhOA”]The minister’s call comes at a time where several Ghanaians are being laid off from their jobs; a situation attributed to the worsening power situation.

Dr Ekow Spio Gabrah spoke to Citi News during the May Day celebration at the Black Star Square.

“The Made in Ghana programme is intended to encourage Ghanaians to patronize products made in this country and the objective is not only for people to consume the products but to protect jobs.”

He explained that “when people are buying things made in Ghana, they are enabling factories and manufacturers in Ghana to employ people” adding that “If people imports things from outside, then they are creating the jobs outside.”

“So the message to Ghanaians is that we shall continue to promote all made in Ghana products so that the manufacturers of this products will have customers and the customers will contribute money to enable the manufacturers to employ more people so that the Ghanaian economy will develop, expand and grow,” Spio Garbrah added.
