President John Dramani Mahama has established a Committee to resolve the impasse between government and labour over the tier two pension scheme.

[contextly_sidebar id=”DWD08aVkUar7rDLjIsnfUkQ10cP5jYFb”]The Committee is expected to secure an out of court settlement on the matter.

Government sued twelve labour unions some months ago after they embarked on series of demonstration to compel government to transfer their tier two pension contributions into their registered schemes.

The labour unions want government to allow a private company to manage the tier two pension scheme but government thinks otherwise.

Speaking at the May Day celebration on Friday, President Mahama expressed worry at the impasse between government and labour on the matter saying “it has taken too long to resolve.”

“I’ve accordingly requested the Minister of Employment and Labour  relations and the Attorney General as well as the forum to seek an amicable resolution of the issue in the law.”

“A committee comprising ex-representatives of government and organized labour is being constituted to explore out of court settlement of this dispute,” he added.
